The UniPhier System LSI is designed for new-generation smart TVs that allow users to simultaneously enjoy two TV broadcasting channels, as well as Internet-based content and applications in HD quality. This chip also reduces power consumption and the number of components needed in smart TVs.
The architecture consists of the Socionext UniPhier processor (which has a proven track record in high-quality processing of audio and visual content) and a general-purpose, high-speed, high-performance (1.4GHz), dual-core ARM® Cortex-A9 processor for fast and smooth operation in network applications (such as smart TVs).
A high-performance, 3D graphics circuit supports Full-HD resolution. The new system LSI integrates this graphics circuit and an audio and video codec, providing all the functions required for smart TVs on a single chip. The new chip reduces power consumption by about 40%, compared to the previous generation LSI.
