The Nessum standard, previously known as HD-PLC, lays the groundwork for a comprehensive building automation strategy, addressing tenants' growing comfort and security needs. As expectations rise, building services and systems must evolve accordingly. Efficient building management is essential to maintaining cost-effectiveness.
A new whitepaper from Socionext explores the challenges of existing communication technologies and how Nessum addresses building control systems, including lighting, HVAC, elevators, parking, and security, which are vital in managing and optimizing the efficiency and comfort of the living environment
Socionext SC1320A Nessum Interface Device
Socionext offers the SC1320A Nessum interface device that integrates Nessum medium access control (MAC) and physical (PHY) layers. The device implements a bridge between Nessum and Ethernet, allowing the connection of a variety of external peripherals using industry-standard interfaces such as SPI, UART, and general-purpose I/O. It supports secure boot from the external serial Flash ROM via a Quad SPI interface.
The device is compact, measuring only 7mm x 7mm, and operates within the industrial temperature range. It requires a single 3.3V power supply and consumes less than 200 mW.
With Socionext SC1320A, users can easily enable Nessum in commercial and residential structures to achieve optimal efficiency, comfort, and safety to attract the highest rents and occupancy rates.
