The Socionext team highlighted our collaboration with Network Optix on AI neural network and computer vision solutions at Securetech 2019. Â
Video data is exploding, and we aren’t just talking about smartphone video clips or the latest hit streaming programs. Businesses and governments at all levels deploy millions of traffic, safety, and security cameras around the world. All these cameras generate an enormous amount of video every day – way too much data for any number of human eyes to process effectively.
Computer vision technology is a natural fit to analyze and categorize bulk video data. The obstacle, however, has been finding a way to cost-effectively and efficiently apply AI neural networking technology to video analytics at scale.
Of course, if you have read some of our previous blog posts, you know that the above is precisely the kind of challenge that we excel at tackling here at Socionext.
Enter the SynQuacer SCA11B SoC-powered Edge Video Processing Server
The Socionext SynQuacer SC2A11 is a scalable, multi-core SoC designed to support the most demanding edge computing, Internet of Things (IoT), data processing, and cloud service applications. The low-cost and power-efficient SynQuacer packs 24 ARM® Cortex™-A53 64-bit cores, three levels of cache, and multiple interfaces within a compact 30mm x 30mm BGA package.
Socionext is thrilled to team up with Network Optix, the makers of innovative video software tools, to create a cost-effective AI computer vision solution for analyzing video content at scale powered by the SynQuacer.
Socionext and Network Optix gave attendees at Securetech 2019 in Taipei a sneak peek at the future of AI-powered computer vision with a demo highlighting our collaboration.
The Socionext/Network Optix AI Computer Vision Demo:
- 20X Video Input: The demo system featured 20 cameras streaming IP video data.
- Socionext-Powered Edge Video Processing Server: Streams from the 20 cameras were processed in real-time using a compact edge server featuring the high-performance and low-power Syncacer SCA11B SoC.
- Network Optix VMS Client: The Nx Witness VMS from Network Optix provides a powerful and easy-to-use IP video software platform to view and manage the multiple incoming video streams, including recognition of target metadata.
The companies worked closely together to integrate the fast processing capabilities of the Socionext Syncacer SCA11B SoC with Network Optix’s metadata SDK to analyze and enrich incoming video data. This integration enables the combined system to recognize and filter video input using metadata (e.g., identifying objects, people, faces, and even characteristics like expressions, age, and behaviors). Potential applications for the system include security, search-and-rescue, surveillance, new retail, and more.
You can see the system in action and learn more in the video below.
