Partnership to produce system-on-chip (SoC) solutions that will expand Teradici PCoIP technology into new devices, markets, and use cases
SUNNYVALE, Calif. November 15, 2016 – Socionext Inc., an emerging leader in advanced system-on-chip (SoC) technology for video and imaging systems, and Teradici, creator of industry-leading PCoIP® technology for secure virtual workspaces, today announced a strategic partnership to provide silicon to power a new family of PCoIP endpoints for the cloud.

The first goal of the partnership will be an expansion of Teradici’s PCoIP Zero Client family of ultra-secure hardware endpoints for virtual and cloud environments. The new Socionext SC1110 SoC, also known as “PXiV”, will be used in the new Alta PCoIP Zero Client alongside the well-established Tera2 PCoIP Zero Client line, of which more than 3 million units have shipped.
PCoIP Zero Clients are hardware-based endpoints that use a highly integrated, purpose-built processor to perform image decompression and decoding, so pixels are transmitted instead of data. By integrating the PCoIP hardware decoder with modern SoC technology, Teradici and Socionext aim to empower OEMs to embed PCoIP technology in a range of devices beyond the traditional desktop form factors.
As more workloads and applications move to the cloud, PCoIP embedded endpoint solutions will also grow significantly. The partnership with Socionext, which has developed industry-leading expertise in a broad range of digital consumer products, will create new potential for reaching an untapped opportunity across a broad range of industries, from digital signage to automotive, to television and interactive media streaming, to ruggedized devices for vertical industries and for mobile users in every industry, and more.
