In Hall 5, booth C34, Socionext will demonstrate its leading-edge technologies including a new UHD low latency encoder box, an 8K streaming solution, and a cloud-based encoder solution for the new AV1 video compression standard.

4K Video Streaming Solution Expands Applications of High-Quality Video Distribution
Socionext will showcase a UHD encoder box ‘X500E’ designed for live IP streaming. Based on the company’s highly reliable codec SoC, the X500E meets and exceeds the rigorous demands for UHD/HEVC elevated processing power by using reduced bandwidth transport capacity while providing superior 4K video quality at 60fps with ultra-low latency. The X500E allows users to easily implement multicast systems. Along with the X500E, the company will showcase a prototype decoder ‘X500D’.
8K Video Streaming Solution is a Gateway to a New World of High Definition Live Video
At this year’s IBC, Socionext will showcase an 8K video encoding and decoding solution. The ‘e8’ is a new 8K streaming encoder box for encoding video in real-time. Along with the e8, the company will feature its leading compact, lightweight, and low power 8K media player ‘s8’ that is capable of performing local media playback of 8K60p/HEVC contents in real-time. s8 also supports cloud distribution of 8K contents. The combination of both the e8 and s8 will enable customers to immediately implement a robust, high-performance 8K streaming system.
AV1 Cloud-Based Encoding Solution
Socionext will also be demonstrating a state-of-the-art cloud-based encoding system with implementation of AV1. AV1 is a new, advanced video data compression standard established by the Alliance for Open Media, a consortium in which Socionext is a member. AV1 is capable of compressing data 30% more efficiently than HEVC while retaining the same image quality. With this solution, OTT(Over-The-Top) video service providers will be able to drastically reduce their video delivery and distribution costs.
