Milbeaut Image Signal Processors for Digital Cameras and "On-the-Move" Video Applications
Socionext's Milbeaut® ASSP offers the highest image quality and latest functions, making it appropriate for a wide range of camera systems including high-quality digital SLRs, digital cameras, sports cameras, surveillance cameras, smartphones, drive recorders, mobile devices and video-image-based industrial equipment.
We have also partnered with FotoNation, a leading computational imaging and computer vision solutions provider to incorporate a new, fully-customizable Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) hardware and software solution for "on-the-move" video capturing devices such as drones, action cameras, and wearables.
Our advanced image-processing algorithm incorporates a video-codec function that offers the highest image quality and a number of video interfaces. The algorithm, which is already in its ninth generation, is always a step ahead of the market. While this is an ASSP, we also provide development services, platform and firmware that can help customers differentiate their products through software.
Milbeaut can support a wide range of software platforms from real-time OS (RTOS) having light operations (e.g., μITRON™) to Android™, which guarantees a rich range of API. The different applications are highly customizable, and programs are provided for products that are dependent on application processors such as the cameras of smartphones.
The advanced image processing in the different products of Milbeaut is carried out by an image pipeline and a dedicated engine with a hardware-wired orientation, resulting in advanced processing at a high speed yet with low power consumption.
The device is equipped with a powerful codec engine developed by Socionext. Integrated hardware macros are specialized for various image-processing functions, reducing the CPU load. Power consumption is as low as 2 watts when operating with 4K at 60 frames per second (fps).
Digital cameras (DSC and SLR)
Socionext's image processor is able to deliver the high-resolution 4K video needed by a broad range of expanding applications, such as surveillance cameras, drone sand drive recorders.
Specifically, possible applications include flying cameras, which can be used to capture images and video for search-and-rescue operations in dangerous areas. Other possible applications are action cameras, which can be used in non-sporting applications, and in-vehicle drive recorders, which provide video that can be useful for investigations of traffic incidents.
